Invertivet recommends that a vet with knowledge of venomous animals is responsible for the veterinary documentation in respect to venomous animals included in the Dangerous Wildlife Animals Act (DWA). Often an intimate knowledge of a species is required to understand their requirements for both the animal’s health and to ensure they are kept safely. Invertivet is able and happy to provide this level of care and consideration in respect to a DWA application, particularly with respect to DWA vemonous invertebrates and reptiles.
Invertivet supports the keeping of DWA licensed animals by serious collectors, researchers and by zoological collections. However, the care and keeping of these animals is very complicated and should not be taken lightly and without significant forethought.
Due to the risk of conflict of interest, Benjamin cannot provide a DWA inspection for a primary client and in such a case he will refer the client to a colleague within the Veterinary Invertebrate Society.

Benjamin will arrange to see DWA venomous animals either for a veterinary inspection or for veterinary treatment but this is done strictly by appointment and on a case by case basis. Ideally this would involve a referral from an already established contact first.
